TAILGATING

What is Tailgating?

Tailgating (also known as piggybacking) is one of the most widespread security breaches affecting businesses today. Tailgating is often described as the passage of unauthorised personnel, either forced or accidental, behind that of an authorised user.
This not only puts the property, data and occupants of an organisation at risk, it can also cost businesses losses in revenue from long term damage to their brand and reputation. For service industries such as the leisure industry, where controlled access is required, this can result in a loss of revenue.

  1. Tailgating, sometimes called piggybacking, is when a hacker walks into a secured building by following someone with an authorized access card. This attack presumes the person with legitimate access to the building is courteous enough to hold the door open for the person behind them, assuming they are allowed to be there.
